Thousand Kites is excited to offer community radio stations and individuals the 9th annual national radio program Calls From Home.
Calls From Home,
produced in the coalfields of central Appalachia, reaches a national
network of prisoners, their loved ones and public listeners through
community radio. We need your help in make this year a success. Get involved.
Thousand Kites is taking on the practice "prisoner renting," where
states ship prisoners out of state in a profit making scheme that hurts families and communities
Record Prisoner Poetry
Prisoners send us their
poetry and essays. Volunteer with Thousand Kites to record these pieces
and help prisoners get their voices on the radio and web.
Incarceration Nation Map
Incarceration Nation Map: a prison mapping and image bank that
(un)earths the presence of prisons in our communities using Google
Earth videos and user generated content.
Kites is taking the lead in incorporating media justice issues into the
criminal justice reform movement. As policy follows perception, we
believe it is necessary to bring criminal justice reform issues to

Thousand Kites and the American
Friends Service Committee are partnering on grassroots outreach for the
STOPMAX campaign to abolish solitary confinement and torture in U.S.
prisons, using the documentary film Up the Ridge. Get involved.
